June 21, 2019 – “Heart Chant” at Make Music…
What a healing and rewarding experience to lead a Heart Chant at Make Music Chicago this year. We joined 10 other Heart Chants from across the world to heal and restore.
Come to the River Theater and join Forte Chicago in a performance of Pauline Oliveros’s Heart Chant at 7:15pm on June 21. Written in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, the Heart Chant‘s simple instructions invite any and all to participate in creating community through sound. No musical training is required. Performance instructions will be shared on-site and are also available at makemusicday.org/national-projects/heart-chant/
This Chicago performance joins over a dozen Heart Chants planned for Make Music Day on June 21 around the world.
Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. All performances and events are free and open to the public.
